(Sackville, N.B)- The Mounties losing streak was extended to 6 games after a 7-0 defeat to the visiting St. Francis Xavier X-Men at Alumni Field on Friday night. The Nova Scotian side got back to winning form with a brace from Aaron Thibeau, who first converted within the first two minutes. Goals by the likes of Englishman Tane Caubo, and Italian Marco Zanchetta, were enough to put the game to bed.
Mount Allison saw encouraging play from A.J Case, who looked to create opportunities in the Mounties new 4-3-3 formation. Captain Anthony Maddalena also proved key in defense breaking up several X-men chances.
Mounties Goalkeeper Seiwa Yanagi was continually tested and made nine key saves for Mt. A. Defensive organization and miscommunication resulted in an own goal in the 32nd minute, and ultimately led to the loss.
With the defeat, the Mounties record now falls to 0-8-1. The X-Men are now 6-1-2, and are hunting for an AUS playoff spot.
The Mounties are in action again this Sunday against the Memorial, as they continue to push for a first win of the season. Kick off against the Sea-Hawks is at 3:15pm at Alumni Field, in Sackville, New Brunswick.
