Mounties football extend head coach Peter Fraser until 2025
The Mount Allison Mounties are pleased to announce the extension of Mounties football head coach Peter Fraser’s contract through the spring of 2025.
Fraser was named as the Mounties head coach in early 2018 and he will enter his 4th season with the garnet and gold this fall. Fraser’s original contract for 5 years was set to expire after the 2022 season. The extension will now cover the 2023 and 2024 seasons as well.
“We were proud to announce Coach Peter Fraser as our head coach back in 2018 and we are certainly pleased to extend our mutual commitment to 2025,” commented Pierre Arsenault, Mounties Director of Athletics and Recreation. “Coach Fraser arrived as one of the most respected recruiters and coaches in the U SPORTS system and he has used his abilities to build a coaching staff and program that will contend for AUS league championships. To be able to communicate this program stability for our players, coaches and many Mounties supporters is a huge positive for our program.”
“I am very excited to be staying here at Mount Allison and continuing to work with our student athletes,” offered Fraser. “We have a dedicated group of players and coaches and I am happy the university and Athletic Director have the confidence in our program’s direction on and off the field to want to continue forward. We have a very hard working group of players and I look forward to helping them meet their goals and build on past program success.”
Fraser and the Mounties made a return to the playoffs during the 2019 season, the last full AUS season to be played. The Mounties won 3 of their last 4 games to clinch a playoff spot before falling on the road in a close AUS semi-final at Bishop’s.
With a strong returning core, the Mounties are excited to get started with the 2021 season. After travelling to Saint Mary’s for exhibition action on Friday, September 10th, the Mounties will open the season at home on Saturday, September 18th when they host Acadia for Homecoming.
