Sarah Fellner hired to lead Mounties swim program
Mount Allison’s Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Fellner as our Mounties swimming Head Coach.
Coach Fellner arrives to Mount Allison with 25 years of high performance coaching experience at various levels in Canada and Internationally. Fellner, who is Canadian, will join the Mounties swim program from her most recent position as Regional Pathway Development Coach with Swim Ireland.
“I am excited and proud to be named as the new head coach of the Mount Allison Mounties Swim Team,” offered Fellner. “I have extensive coaching experience in Canada and Ireland, working with athletes up to National and International levels. I look forward to leading Mount Allison forward with the goal of becoming one of the top small university swim programs in the country. Most importantly, our team will work toward making consistent improvements. We will maintain the successes of the past and build on those to provide a great experience for our student athletes.” Fellner finished by saying “I am looking forward to meeting the 2021-22 Team.”
Fellner got her start in coaching with Brock Niagara Aquatics where she spent 12 years working with all levels of swimmers. Fellner then attended the National Coaching Institute in Victoria where she graduated with a Master of Education specializing in Coaching studies. This was followed up with more coaching throughout Manitoba and Ontario while also serving as a mentor coach and a course facilitator for NCCP Level 1 and 2 Swimming.
“We are really pleased to introduce Sarah Fellner as the new Head Coach for our Mounties swim program,” commented Pierre Arsenault, Mount Allison’s Director of Athletics and Recreation. “Sarah brings a great combination of knowledge and experiences that will certainly benefit our Mounties swimmers. We see this as an opportunity to build competitiveness for our swim program and we’re excited for Sarah to get started.”
Mount Allison’s men’s and women’s swim programs compete as part of the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Conference. Notable recent Mounties swimmers include Olympian Noah Mascoll-Gomes (Antigua) who was named 2019-20 AUS Male Swimmer of the Year. Fellner will also oversee pool operations as part of her new role at Mount Allison.
