The Mount Allison Mounties have advanced to the ACAA women's basketball semi-finals with a 59-46 win over the UKC Blue Devils in quarter final action on Wednesday.
The #5 seed Blue Devils kept the game close for most of 3 quarters before the #4 seed Mounties separated for an eventual 13 point victory. The teams found themselves in a 16-16 after 1 quarter and the visiting Blue Devils took a 26-24 lead into halftime.
With the score sitting at 34-33 with 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter the Mounties went on a late run to build a 10 point lead by the end of the quarter. The Mounties would extend their lead to as much as 20 in the 4th quarter before sailing home for victory.
ACAA 1st team All-Star Abby Miller led the way for the Mounties, scoring 24 points along with 9 rebounds. Sophie Trail had 15 points for the Mounties while ACAA Rookie of the Year Reese Nowlan added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Jenna Bain was the high scorer for the Blue Devils, collecting 12 points and 5 rebounds.
The Mounties now advance to Friday's ACAA semi-final game at #1 seed MSVU. The game will be broadcast live on www.acaatv.ca
