Avrey Alward joins Mounties Women’s Basketball program

The Mount Allison Mounties Women's Basketball program is pleased to announce the commitment of Avrey Alward. The Saint John, NB native recently finished a standout campaign for the St. Malachy's Saints, in which she led her team to the AAA provincial final. Her achievements also saw her named an NBIAA All Star. Avrey also has extensive experience representing New Brunswick, most recently at the 2022 Canada Games.

 

"The welcoming atmosphere and the unique Biopsychology program drew me to Mount Allison," said Alward. "My goal as a first-year is to balance academics and athletics. I plan to make a positive contribution to the team and maintain a high GPA." Head Coach Tom Skabar added: "Avrey brings a very unique combination of size, skill and intelligence to our team. She has the versatility to be a threat inside and out, and the basketball IQ to make decisions at a high level. We are thrilled that she has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career at MTA".
