Mounties Dominate UNBSJ to Extend Winning Streak to Two

The Mount Allison Mounties Women's Basketball team continued their impressive run in the ACAA league with a commanding 87–51 victory over the UNB Saint John Seawolves at McCormack Gymnasium. With this win, the Mounties extend their winning streak to two games, showcasing depth, teamwork, and offensive firepower.
From the opening tip-off, the Mounties set the tone with a blistering 27-point first quarter, outpacing UNBSJ's 12. The momentum carried through all four quarters, with consistent scoring and defensive pressure that kept the Seawolves from mounting any serious comeback.
Leading the charge was Danielle Alexander, who posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, dominating the paint and providing a strong inside presence. Grace Tilley added 16 points, including four three-pointers, while Sadie Bowen contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
The Mounties shot an impressive 51.5% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc, compared to UNBSJ's 38.9% overall shooting and just 17.6% from three-point range. Mount Allison also out-rebounded their opponents 36 to 24 and dished out 21 assists, highlighting their unselfish play and ball movement.
Defensively, the Mounties were sharp, recording 7 steals and limiting UNBSJ's top scorers. The team's bench also made valuable contributions, with Ava Godfrey and Nicole Jenkins combining for 18 points.
This dominant performance not only reinforces Mount Allison's position as a contender in the ACAA but also reflects the team's growing confidence and cohesion. With momentum on their side, the Mounties look ahead to their next matchup, eager to keep the streak alive and continue climbing the standings.
