Mounties Fall 2–0 to Axewomen
(Sackville, NB) Acadia earned a hard-fought 2–0 road win over Mount Allison in AUS women's soccer action on Saturday, August 31. After a scoreless first half, Acadia broke through in the 52nd minute when Jenna Turner finished a well-placed pass from Alexa Derrick. Taylor Kay added insurance in the 72nd minute with a solo effort, sealing the win for the Axewomen.
Mount Allison showed defensive resilience throughout the match. Katie Cabot made five saves in goal, including key stops to keep the game level early. Maeve Williams and Mairead Graetsch anchored the back line, with strong challenges throughout.
Acadia outshot Mount Allison 12–4 and held an 8–3 edge in corner kicks, but the Mounties' defensive effort kept the game competitive.
Acadia (1-1) is back in action Friday, September 5th against Dalhousie in Halifax at 5pm. Mount Allison (0-2) travel to Moncton to play U de M on Friday, September 5th at 5pm.
