MOUNTIES' DOMINANT 3–0 WIN OVER HOLLAND ON A PACKED TUESDAY NIGHT
[Sackville, NB]
The defending ACAA champions looked every bit like champions on Tuesday night as the Mount Allison Mounties swept the Holland Hurricanes 3–0 (25–12, 25–18, 25–17) in McCormack Gymnasium. From the first serve, the Mounties controlled the pace, the energy, and the scoreboard, putting on a statement performance in front of a loud and electric home crowd.
Mount A's offense was firing on all cylinders, with 33 total kills to Holland's 21. Chloe Palmer led the way with 9 kills, while Sarah Mason and Mya Artibello added 7 each, and Kaia MacDougall and Danielle Cumby delivered efficient swings to keep the pressure on. Setter Ruby McCormick kept the attack flowing with 23 assists, helping the Mounties run one of their cleanest offensive matches of the season. On the defensive side, the team dug up 50 balls and added five total blocks, shutting down any momentum the Hurricanes tried to build.
But just as impressive as the performance on the court was the atmosphere around it.
McCormack was buzzing, packed with fellow Mountie athletes from men's and women's soccer, the swim team, the football team, the badminton team, and a huge turnout of students who showed up strong on a Tuesday night to cheer on the women's volleyball squad. The energy was constant, loud, and exactly what you expect from a campus that rallies behind its champions.
The Mounties fed off that support from the opening whistle, cruising to a clean sweep and reminding the conference why they're the defending ACAA champions. With the victory, Mount Allison moves to 4–2 on the season and continues to build momentum as the semester winds down.
The team now turns its attention to a tough road weekend, travelling to the University of Saint Anne on Saturday before facing MSVU on Sunday, a demanding back-to-back that the Mounties will enter with confidence after a dominant home performance.
A dominant night on the court. A dominant night in the stands. A statement from the Mounties.
