Mounties Bounce Back in Convincing Fashion, Take Down USTA 3–1
After a tough upset loss yesterday to the Dal Rams, the defending ACAA champions responded exactly how champions should—focused, composed, and back in full form. In front of their home crowd, the Mount Allison Mounties powered past the Université Sainte-Anne Dragons in a 3–1 victory (25–12, 22–25, 25–15, 25–9), improving to 7–3 on the season.
The Mounties stormed out of the gate in the first set, hitting an impressive .241 as a team while holding USTA to just 12 points. But the Dragons didn't go away—USTA stole the second set 25–22 as the Mounties struggled to settle in defensively.
From there, Mount A flipped the switch.
The third and fourth sets were all Mount Allison. The offense sharpened, the block locked in, and the defensive effort rose to championship level. The Mounties hit .273 in the third and an elite .333 in the fourth while holding USTA to single digits to close out the match.
Chloe Palmer led the charge with 14 kills, 9 digs, and a team-high 16 points, showing why she's one of the most reliable offensive weapons in the conference. Sarah Mason was unstoppable on the left side, hitting a blazing .524 with 13 kills and 17 digs for a dominant two-way performance.
Middle play was huge as well—Kaia MacDougall delivered 7 kills, 2 service aces, and 2 big blocks, while Danielle Cumby added 4 kills on an efficient .500 hitting.
And as always, the offense ran smoothly through Sophia Moroz, who dished out 26 assists, controlling the pace and keeping USTA off-balance throughout the match. Defensively, the back row was rock-solid: Mya Artibello and Mason each finished with 17 digs, anchoring a unit that totaled 64 digs on the night.
It wasn't just a win—this was a reminder.
After yesterday's stumble, the Mounties showed exactly why they're still one of the top threats in the ACAA: depth, resilience, and the ability to lock in when it matters most.
Next up: the Mounties look to carry this momentum into their next semester's games. The champs are back in rhythm.
